About Fort Worth Feminism

I started Fort Worth Feminism to highlight both local and national injustices happening to women on a daily basis to the Fort Worth community. I also hope to put the spotlight on initiatives and people who work to further equality. I work at a local agency with the mission of ending domestic violence and live near the Cultural District of Fort Worth with my husband.

  1. I want to remind you about a major affront to women and children in the Fort Worth area: Urban gas drilling.

Not only is it dangerous, but natural gas production is major new source of air pollution, it’s slowly poisoning our aquifer and threatening our drinking water, it is contaminating our land, removing valuable green space and eroding our quality of life. And it’s still in the early stages.

Please highlight this issue in future postings. Our movement to curtail future drilling and increase restrictions on what is already in place desperately needs the support of women more than ever.

I can’t think of a better example of injustice to women on a local scale than the greed-driven exploitation of Fort Worth by energy companies such as Chesapeake and XTO.
